God Passes By: The First Century
An extensive deep dive into the history of the first century of the Baha'i Faith, anchored by Shoghi Effendi's *God Passes By* — his magisterial chronicle of the Faith's first hundred years (1844-1944). The course traces the four stages of Baha'u'llah's ministry (Baghdad, Constantinople, Adrianople, Akka), the ministry of Abdu'l-Baha (1892-1921), and the ministry of Shoghi Effendi as Guardian (1921-1957). Supplementary readings from Adib Taherzadeh's four-volume *The Revelation of Baha'u'llah* provide detailed context for each stage of Baha'u'llah's exile and revelation, while Ruhiyyih Khanum's *The Priceless Pearl* offers an intimate portrait of Shoghi Effendi's Guardianship. This is a long course — the equivalent of a full semester — designed for students who want to know the history thoroughly, not merely in outline. Students who completed Course 6.3 (Dawn-Breakers) already know the Babi period; this course picks up the story from Baha'u'llah's declaration and carries it through to the election of the Universal House of Justice.
